Congressman McEachin Assigned to House Armed Services Subcommittees
WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, at House Armed Services Democrats' organizational meeting for the 115th Congress, Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) was elected to serve on both the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee and the Readiness Subcommittee. Rep. McEachin made the following statement:
"Many of my constituents in the 4th Congressional District either serve in the military, or work in defense-related industries. I believe that serving on the Seapower and Projection Forces as well as the Readiness subcommittees will enable me to best represent their interests -- and the interests of Virginians.
"These are the same subcommittees on which my predecessor served. While he and I differ on many issues, he and I share the view that military issues are very important -- including a more muscular Navy.
"I will use my spot on the Readiness subcommittee to ensure that training facilities such as Ft. Lee have the resources they need, and to make sure that we are taking care of our dedicated service members, military families, and civilian personnel. I will use my spot on Seapower and Projection Forces to support a large and effective Navy and Marine Corps, and to sustain the longstanding ties between our military and Hampton Roads.
"In both roles, I look forward to working closely with the military, with civilian stakeholders, and with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle."
