McEachin Applauds House Passage of Climate Action Now Act
Washington, D.C. – Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) released the following statement following the passage of H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act, which requires the United States to honor its commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement.
“In the face of the administration’s reckless abdication of our global leadership responsibilities, the House’s vote today sends a clear message to all Americans, and to the world: the United States can and will take aggressive action to minimize climate change, and to mitigate its worst effects,” said Congressman A. Donald McEachin. “The Climate Action Now Act will ensure that we honor our emissions reductions commitment and encourage development of the tools necessary to safeguard public health and grow a clean economy. H.R. 9 is the first major piece of climate change legislation passed by House Democrats – it upholds a promise we made to the American public to put them first, not corporate polluters and special interests.
“An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that we should take strong action to protect our environment, and I am very proud to support legislation that does just that. I cannot stress enough how important it is that the Senate pass this legislation for the well-being of our children and all future generations.”
