McEachin Statement on the Death of Gen. Colin Powell
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) issued the following statement after the death of General Colin Powell, the 65th Secretary of State, who served under former President George W. Bush:
“I am sad to learn of the passing of Colin Powell. Gen. Powell was a veteran, trailblazer, and a lifelong public servant. He served as the 16th U.S. National Security Advisor, the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and was the first African American Secretary of State. He will be remembered for his years of service, patriotism, and staunch commitment to the United States.
“We are incredibly grateful for his years of remarkable leadership and service to our nation. I send my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
