McEachin Statement on Reports of Suspicious Packages

Richmond, Va. — Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) issued this statement following several reports of suspicious packages intended for Democratic leaders, Time Warner Center:

“There is no excuse whatsoever for violence. I am beyond disturbed to hear about the several bombs discovered today intended for political leaders and a media outlet. These distressing actions can be the outgrowth of divisive hostile, over-the-top language as we saw in Charlottesville last year and in these bomb incidents now. I thank the first responders for their swift actions to protect all Americans. Words and actions matter, and we simply must recognize that violence and words that incite violence have no place in our discourse.”
