McEachin Statement on Sessions' Testimony

June 13, 2017
Press Release

WASHINGTONCongressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04) issued this statement following Attorney General Jefferson Sessions’ testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee:

“This afternoon, Attorney General Sessions refused to answer even simple direct questions. The Attorney General is supposed to be the top lawyer for all Americans; not just one American, President Trump. Sessions’ testimony claiming that he has not colluded with the Russians, does not alleviate serious concerns that members of the Trump Administration have worked closely with Putin’s Russia.

“Sessions aided in firing the FBI Director who was leading an investigation into the Trump Administration’s connection with Putin’s Russia. The Attorney General had supposedly recused himself from issues with the Russian situation but once he weighed in on the FBI Director's firing, he violated his own commitment. The billowing smoke continues to row.

“Once again, I urge my Republican colleagues to set aside politics and join Democrats in pursuing the truth that Americans want and deserve. Our future democracy may depend on it.”
