Ranking Members McEachin and Grijalva Request Hearing on Trump Administration’s Attempt to Hide the Truth
WASHINGTON – Congressmen Donald McEachin (VA-04) and Raul Grijalva (AZ-03), Ranking Members of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and House Committee on Natural Resources respectively, requested an Oversight and Investigations subcommittee hearing in response to the Trump Administration’s attempt to censor the truth about climate change by eliminating webpages and implementing gag-orders.
The Administrations recent actions are counter to basic principles of good government. They are attempts to deny the public facts about climate change and will prevent public servants from blowing the whistle on waste, fraud and abuse.
“Climate change is the single most important health, economic, national security, and environmental issue under this committee’s jurisdiction, said the Ranking Members in the request letter sent to Chairman Bishop. “Every other issue under the Committee’s jurisdiction is impacted by it in profound and irreversible ways.”
The subcommittee hearing will explore whether the recent actions to hide the truth comply with various whistleblower laws.
